Plastic Tiger

Plastic Tiger, 2015 is a conceptual photography series exploring the tension between belonging, belief, and individual autonomy. Drawing from the visual language of initiation rites, symbolic systems, and ceremonial performance, the work examines how collective structures can shape perception, influence behavior, and define the boundaries of acceptable thought.

Created entirely in-camera, the series uses constructed environments, coded objects, and ritualized gestures to explore the relationship between the individual and the systems they encounter. The photographs consider the desire for belonging, the power of shared mythology, and the challenges faced by those who choose to remain separate in order to preserve independent thought.

At its core is a question of authorship: who casts the circle, and who is cast within it?

From Plastic Tiger’s artifice, Tramps and Saints turns toward what cannot be staged.
